It is with deep sadness and a feeling of great loss that we inform you that our President Herman Hamer passed away on Sunday 12th November 2017.
Herman was involved in Fleuroselect from the 80s, taking a more prominent role from 2003 when he joined the Board of Directors. From then on he has been active in almost every aspect of the organisation. Herman was always full of ideas on how to explore new opportunities. He was instrumental in re-organising the secretariat in 2007, he led the business unit Production and Distribution forming the Young Plant Producers group with its annual conference and he was a key player in the successful FleuroStar contest. Herman became President in 2015 and continued to move the organisation forward always aware of the needs of the members and the changing demands of the industry.
Behind the scenes Herman was a member of the Management Team for over 10 years supporting the secretariat in the daily running of the organisation. He could always be relied on to give advice when requested, inspiration when necessary and knowledge when needed. He will be sorely missed.
On behalf of the Board, Secretariat and all the members, deepest condolences are extended to his wife Rian who stood at his side during many Fleuroselect events, to his children and grandchildren and to all staff and colleagues at Florensis.
